Somewhere in Europe – The Musical
Set in the ravaged landscape of post–World War II Hungary, Somewhere in Europe tells the story of a group of homeless war orphans struggling to survive amid hunger, fear, and the loss of family. When the children take refuge in a ruined castle, they discover it is inhabited by a disillusioned orchestra conductor whose life has also been shattered by war.
At first divided by mistrust and pain, the children and the man slowly form a fragile community, discovering through music and compassion a shared sense of hope, dignity, and belonging. But as the outside world intrudes once again, they must face the question: can innocence and humanity survive in a broken world?
With music by László Dés and lyrics by István Nemes, Somewhere in Europe is a deeply moving, cinematic musical that blends haunting melodies, youthful energy, and emotional depth — an unforgettable stage experience about survival, forgiveness, and the healing power of connection.
A powerful story. A haunting score. A journey from loss to hope.
